Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law (the No Surprises Act) and in accordance with Texas regulations, all healthcare providers must offer clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance an estimate of expected charges for medical or mental health services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining the total anticipated cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy. This estimate will include fees for sessions and any other related services that may reasonably be expected as part of your treatment.

You can request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service or at any point during your care. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge.

Be sure to keep a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or how to dispute a bill, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website at https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
